Playing around with the latest 1.4 alpha3 edition, I decided to produce a quick screencast and show how Magento widgets can be installed and integrated into the CMS. Accidentally, this is my first screencast ever and I’m certain there’s room for improvement (as usual, please leave your comments). Also, this is my first time uploading content to Youtube – altogether very exciting stuff!
Over on the Magento website, there’s a well-written tutorial introducing developers to widget programming: Tutorial: Creating a Magento Widget, Part 1 Since a widget is a type of extension, developers who have gained some experience in extension programming won’t find it hard at all to develop widgets of their own I’m sure.
Update: Just a short time after I’ve published this screencast, there were two more widgets uploaded by the community. Way to go!
