In a recent post in the Magento blog, Koby Oz presents a Magento extension called Facebook Connect Social Shopping. Included in this short article is a video presenting the way in which this module works and a connection between Facebook and a Magento shop is established. What basically happens is that, in case someone is logged into Facebook, surfing a webshop and has allowed this shop to access his Facebook profile, he has direct access to his social graph. This is quite handy because now he can ask for one or more friends’ opinions about the product he is looking at.
On the flipside, if this person is a diligent web shopper, it might be annoying for his circle of friends to be bombarded with product proposals. And exciting as this might be on the technical side, at the end of the day this function seems to be a flossy version of the age-old “E-Mail to a friend”-link.
